Testing with Visual Studio 2. On Demand. Presented by Brian Minasi. Running Time: 1. 62 minutes. The importance of testing is undeniable in the overall application lifecycle. We have all been in projects where testing is inadequate. The result is significant effort and cost to fix bugs that are introduced into production; not to mention the cost of a damaged reputation. Many times, institutions do not invest enough to comprehensively test an application at all levels. It is either seen as too costly or too time consuming. What many organizations do not realize is the investment in thorough testing is far less than the investment in post- production bug fixing. Fortunately, this trend is shifting due to improvements in tooling and through greater awareness of testing techniques and their benefits. Microsoft is a leader in offering a holistic approach to testing through Visual Studio. This includes unit testing, performance testing, load testing and a new tool introduced with Visual Studio 2. Testing for Continuous Delivery with Visual Studio 2012. Applies to: Visual Studio 2012, Team Foundation Server 2012. In three presentations, you will learn how to use Visual Studio 2. Demonstrate Unit Testing using the Microsoft Fakes framework to create shims and stubs with the addition of how to use Moq to create mocks with behavioral validation. Show how to create Load Tests to verify how the application will handle increasing levels of traffic before deploying it to production. Demonstrate Microsoft Test Manager to allow developers and QA to create Test Plans, Test Cases, run the tests and communicate test results transparently to the team and organization. After attending all three sessions, you will have an understanding of the three major test offerings with Visual Studio 2. By implementing the three levels of testing within your organization, the quality of your applications will increase while the cost of developing and maintaining will decrease. Session 1: Visual Studio 2. Unit Testing using Fakes and Mocks. One of the basic tenets of unit testing is that the code you are testing should not have dependencies on other code. However, it soon becomes clear that it does not perform as expected; slow or unresponsive and generating errors. The application works fine in QA and UAT, but is unable to handle the traffic thrown at it in the real world. Knowing this prior to production is essential. Visual Studio 2. 01. Load Testing provides the tools and features to simulate the conditions an application will face in production. In this session we’ll discuss the load testing architecture, how to set up and configure a test rig, create Web performance tests and load tests, and set up roles with diagnostic and data adapters. We’ll also discuss using performance monitors and counter sets. Finally, we’ run a load test and examine the load test report. Session 3: QA Testing with Microsoft Test Manager 2. Microsoft Test Manager enables testers to be more productive throughout the testing lifecycle of planning, testing, and tracking progress. This tool integrates with Team Foundation Server, enabling testers to define tests within the same team project that the rest of the team is using. You’ll learn how to create a Test Plan, Test Suite, and Test Cases during the planning stage. You’ll also see how to create environments within a test plan and collect diagnostic data from the environment during a test run. We will then run tests and see how the test results can be communicated to the team through bugs and reporting. Finally, we’ll cover the new features of Microsoft Test Manager, including exploratory testing, the rich text editor for manual testing, and other features. About Our Instructor. Collaborative software - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Collaborative software or groupware is an application software designed to help people involved in a common task to achieve their goals. One of the earliest definitions of collaborative software is 'intentional group processes plus software to support them.'. According to Carstensen and Schmidt (1. The authors claim that CSCW, and thereby groupware, addresses . See also Intelligence Amplification. In 1. 97. 5, Will Crowther created Colossal Cave Adventure on a DEC PDP- 1. As internet connections grew, so did the numbers of users and multi- user games. In 1. 97. 8 Roy Trubshaw, a student at Essex University in the United Kingdom, created the game MUD (Multi- User Dungeon). The US Government began using truly collaborative applications in the early 1. MITRE improved on that model by hosting the collaborative session on a server that each user logged into. Called the Collaborative Virtual Workstation (CVW), this allowed the session to be set up in a virtual file cabinet and virtual rooms, and left as a persistent session that could be joined later. A partnership between the University of Bordeaux/IMA and the UC College of Engineering and Applied Science offers a collaborative international University Diploma and Master of Engineering degree focusing on aerospace systems. 2007 Nov;207(10):510-20. In 1. 99. 8, IWS was chosen as the military standard for the standardized Air Operations Center. Lotus Notes appeared as a major example of that product category, allowing remote group collaboration when the internet was still in its infancy. Kirkpatrick and Losee (1. You will be able to work efficiently as a member of a group wherever you have your computer. As computers become smaller and more powerful, that will mean anywhere. One reason for this is the socio- technical dimension of groupware. Groupware designers do not only have to address technical issues (as in traditional software development) but also consider the organizational aspects . Some examples for issues in groupware development are: Persistence is needed in some sessions. Chat and voice communications are routinely non- persistent and evaporate at the end of the session. Virtual room and online file cabinets can persist for years. The designer of the collaborative space needs to consider the information duration needs and implement accordingly. Authentication has always been a problem with groupware. When connections are made point- to- point, or when log- in registration is enforced, it's clear who is engaged in the session. However, audio and unmoderated sessions carry the risk of unannounced 'lurkers' who observe but do not announce themselves or contribute. These are exacerbated with mobile devices. Multiple input and output streams bring concurrency issues into the groupware applications. Motivational issues are important, especially in settings where no pre- defined group process was in place. Closely related to the motivation aspect is the question of reciprocity. What are cooperative and collaborative learning? Collaborative learning is a method of teaching and learning in which students team together to explore a significant question or create a meaningful project. COLLABORATIVE CHILD CARE PROGRAMS – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS. Collaborations between child care centers. Objectives: 1) to evaluate the collaborative program between pharmacists and nurses in improving the spontaneous reporting system of adverse drug reaction (ADR. A phone call or an IM Chat discussion are examples of this. Conferencing (or collaboration level, as it is called in the academic papers that discuss these levels) refers to interactive work toward a shared goal. Brainstorming or voting are examples of this. Co- ordination refers to complex interdependent work toward a shared goal. A good metaphor for understanding this is to think about a sports team; everyone has to contribute the right play at the right time as well as adjust their play to the unfolding situation - but everyone is doing something different - in order for the team to win. That is complex interdependent work toward a shared goal: collaborative management. Collaborative management (coordination) tools. Examples include: Electronic calendars (also called time management software) . Some are defensible but others are so broad they lose any meaningful application. Understanding the differences in human interactions is necessary to ensure the appropriate technologies are employed to meet interaction needs. There are three primary ways in which humans interact: conversations, transactions, and collaborations. Collaborative learning in an online classroom can take the form of discussion among the whole class or within smaller groups. There are some differences between collaborative leadership within an organization and collaborative leadership among organizations. Collaborative software or groupware is an application software designed to help people involved in a common task to achieve their goals. Online collaborative gaming software began between early networked computer users. Conversational interaction is an exchange of information between two or more participants where the primary purpose of the interaction is discovery or relationship building. There is no central entity around which the interaction revolves but is a free exchange of information with no defined constraints generally focused on personal experiences. There are other quilt trends that harness the repurposing craze and feature well- loved t- shirts, sweaters or jeans. Some quilters make memory quilts from old clothes saved over time, presenting the finished project at a special event or anniversary. As you venture to your local fabric store or quilt shop, or shop the myriad of online stores, you may run into some new fabric terms. Since quilts are made of small cuts of fabric, you don. There are pre- cut bundles of fabric that help keep you from having to pile up bolts for the cutting table. If you hear terms like: fat quarters, fat eighth, layer cakes, charm packs, honeybuns, and jellyrolls.. They can be combinations from a particular designer's collection or created by the store's staff. To learn more, take a look at our pre- cut tutorial. You'll also likely find quilt kits, where the fabric has been preselected and the yardage pre- determined, so you can get right to the final cutting and piecing. These are great for beginners. Many quilters will tell you one of the best parts of putting a quilt together is selecting the fabric. You get to combine all kinds of colors, textures and prints within a patchwork design. So much so, many quilters take time to study the theories of color so they can optimize their personal color combinations or stay true to a particular quilt pattern's history. There are special tools available to help you see the true value in a fabric. Like fabric, you want to compare washing/care, drape and resiliency. Much of this can be determined from the batting label itself. Batting is sold in pre- cut packaged sizes or by the yard. You need to know the final size of your quilt top and backing. You can either actually measure the layers when you get to that stage or, if you are following a pattern/tutorial, batting size will be indicated. The actual quilting process, where you stitch through all the layers, will pull up the layers. This means two things: one) your actual finished size will be slightly smaller after the quilting is completed, and two) if you do not have excess batting beyond the edges, the batting can draw up between the layers, producing an insufficient quilt sandwich. Deciding the weight (or loft) and fiber content of batting to use is based on a few things. You may choose a specific batting type based on the end use of your quilt, such as for warmth, or because you simply prefer a certain type to another. It may take some trial and error and/or recommendations from others to find the type(s) of batting you like most. Below is a general list to get you acquainted with the kinds of batting available, some of which have specific uses. Polyester. Cotton. Wool. Silk. Soy/Corn/Flax. Organic. Bamboo. Blends such as poly/cotton, bamboo/cotton. Needle punch. Bonded. Flame retardant. Heat resistant. Recycled plastic bottles. Flannel. Fusible. Here again, a general Internet search will lead you to plenty of feedback, comparison charts and more about batting. And, here at Sew.
